| INFRASTRUCTURAL PROJECTS
The CEEBP assists associations of publishers and booksellers
in Central and Eastern Europe to develop projects aimed at the improvement
of book trade infrastructure.
The projects in Ukraine, Serbia & Montenegro, Croatia, Slovakia,
Bulgaria, and Poland have been co-financed by the Matra Programme of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands.
- Book Trade
Project in Ukraine 2005 - 2008
The project aims at improved access to reliable professional book trade
information, enhanced variety and accessibility of books of Ukrainian
publishers across the country, and improved professional skills and
standards of publishers and booksellers. The Ukrainian Publishers and
Booksellers Association in collaboration with the Business and Technologies
Development Centre / Vlasna Sprava launch a book
trade portal with information and services for professionals. The
Dzherela M and Summit Books companies jointly set up a distribution
network covering the country. Training
for publishers and booksellers is planned in Kiev and Lvov.
- Serbia
& Montenegro Book Market Project 2003 - 2006
The project, implemented in partnership with the National
Library of Serbia, aims at improving the book market infrastructure
in Serbia & Montenegro and its reintegration in regional and international
book markets. The project supports the development of a Book
Information System in cooperation with its Croatian
counterpart, a distribution centre, and the establishment of bookshops
in smaller towns in Serbia and Montenegro. The project assists in
introducing the use of small print run technology in book publishing,
and offers a series of seminars, workshops and consultations for publishers,
distributors, booksellers and book reviewers. Through its Books across
Borders program, the project will support contacts and cooperation between
book trade professionals in Serbia
& Montenegro, Croatia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina, and cross
border co-productions of quality books, and stimulate cross-border circulation
of books by providing libraries with matching funds for books from neighbouring
countries.
